Shaping the future ISO publications

The project aims at optimizing our set of deliverables and ensuring their best use to meet longstanding, emergent and urgent market needs.

By the end of 2024, ISO will offer to its members, committees and workshops better means of responding their market needs thanks innovative processes, better guidance on the deliverables specificities and support when developing standards.

How does this work?

Four components are driving the changes through engagements with the most impacted stakeholders such as: the committees, standards users, ISO Members, organizations in liaisons, etc.:

1: In-depth analysis

Comprehensive diagnostic of the set of deliverables to create a context for driving fact-based proposals for optimizations that align with our performance objectives

2: Ideation and proposal

Identifying and prioritizing potential proposals for optimizations based on the results of the in-depth analysis, and developing recommendations for TMB approval

3: Testing and implementing

Executing the approved recommendations while seeking feedback and piloting selected changes (as necessary) with a limited number of committees before their full implementation.

4: Change management

Ensuring the successful and sustainable implementation of the project's outcomes with a particular focus on assisting the targeted community in adopting new habits.

What's the impact for me?

The Optimized Deliverables project is driven by the goal of meeting market and user needs in a rapidly changing world, with a focus on the current set of ISO's deliverables (IS, TS, PAS, TR and IWA) that are successfully in place for 25 years after PAS and IWA were added in 1998.

As a pillar of the ISO 2030 strategy the project aligns with Goal 2 "Meeting market needs", Priority 2.1 "Deliver ISO standards when the market needs them".

The project synergizes with other initiatives such as Committee Strategy Management and builds upon previous improvements in terms of overall development times to explore further opportunities for optimizations, supporting stakeholders in developing and agreeing on standards that address their global challenges.

Committees and Workshops

You are the heart of the standard development, connecting dots between market needs and ISO's processes and deliverables.

Join the ride with us to Optimized Deliverables and help us shaping the future set of deliverables and their related processes and stay tuned, you will take part to the development at various stage of the projet!

Members

You are the one fuelling the machine with your capacity of engaging with the national stakeholders, guiding them through the processes and helping them having their voices heard along the development of standards. You play a key role when suggesting new projects, committees or workshops. You also have national and/or regional set of deliverables and your experience in understanding market needs is essential to the success of the projet.

Stay tuned for further engagements to share with us your perspectives and guide us in our transformation!

What is going on?

From June 2023 to February 2024 the project is at the in-depth analysis phase.

The objective of the in-depth analysis is to provide the project with the necessary insights to proceed to proposals for optimizations and prepare for changes in the deliverables, their processes and their use that align with the objectives of the project and the ISO Strategy 2030.

The in-depth analysis has 3 components to shape the foundations for future changes:

  • Data: diagnosis for fact-based optimizations;
  • Benchmarking: gathering innovations from our members and external Standards Drafting Organizations;
  • Gaps: shaping the desired future state and identify what needs to change to reach it.

You can contribute to this phase and have your voice heard:

  • We kindly invite the ISO Members to respond to our Survey “Members perspectives on ISO Deliverables”, and share their insights and suggestions about the ISO deliverables.  The ISO deliverables toolkit is there to provide tailored solutions to ISO broad stakeholders' base meeting their needs on time and in full. In an upcoming webinar, we will present the survey findings together with the project action plan, based on
    your feedback.

  • Specific focus groups will be organized along the key findings of the in-depth analysis to understand better needs and situation we may contact you at these occasions.
